Innovative Design Solutions

We are experts in creating the innovative solutions that historic brownstones require. This recent brownstone home remodel was completed for your neighbors in Jersey City.   The main above shows how we mixed vintage, modern, and reproduction elements to complement the client’s existing furnishings while giving the room the character it was lacking.  The following shows a city modern country kitchen.  Minimal work was done on the kitchen but changing the light fixture over the kitchen island made a big difference.  Wallpaper was used to differentiate the kitchen and dining spaces. The back door was replaced and re-trimmed to better integrate into its surroundings.

Strong Working Relationships

We have a strong working relationship with the Historic Preservation Commission, which oversees and approves plans for alterations and additions to historic buildings. We’re intimately familiar, of course, with the permitting process in Jersey City, and have saved our clients hours of time and frustration by handling this for them. And we have an incredible network of local subcontractors who are hard-working, reliable, and trustworthy.

Client-Centered Approach

We put our clients at the center of everything we do.  For this project a custom made mantel surround becomes a focal point in the room.  The detail of the mantel which was recreated from an antique Federal style piece which was too large for the space.

The cabinet doors are full-face frame-less doors for maximum space inside, but maintain the look of an 18th century framed door.

The new partition wall created a cozy corner.  Then we added decorative stair brackets to create an English Georgian feel.

Paneling and painting add character to what was formerly a bland and poorly put together staircase.

This cabinet was designed to be set up as a bar with plenty of space below to house extra supplies.  Integrated lighting on the shelves makes them ideal to display the client’s collections of China and ornaments. These built in cabinets replaced some very awkward bookcases.

We added paneling at the windows to lengthen their silhouette, and improve the proportions of the room.  A wonderful relaxing place to spend time with the family.
